Calling all story guild alumni, families, and friends! You (and your significant others) are welcome to attend the premiere screening of Holly Becker's 90-minute feature documentary, The Great Power. Seven years in the making the film captures an Eastside Story Guild season in the spring of 2014 when Ronnie Grigg was Jesus and temple outcasts were trapped in (mosquito) nets of exclusion. The film asks how to introduce children to faith in a culture where religion has been marginalized and allows the kids to speak for themselves. As well as capturing gorgeous footage of story guild in motion, The Great Power also tells some of the story of Kinbrace (refugee housing and support) and Insight (Vancouver's safe injection site in the DTES.)
This is a ONE-TIME premiere screening before the film switches hands.
Many of the ESG participants were in grade school at the time (you all look so cute!) and are now university age. The week-before Christmas timing is in hopes that we will catch many of you home for the holidays and in a festive, post-exam spirit. NOTE: There is no online option. ("Be there or be square.")
Also, if you are the baking-type you are welcome to bring a plate of favourite Christmas treats (finger food only please) for a potluck reception to accompany complimentary seasonal beverages in the Great Hall following the screening.
